About Michelle Piper
Hi, my name is Michelle Piper. I’m a Marriage and Family Therapist serving a range of clients from US Navy Seals for PTSD, to teenagers that self-mutilate, to couples struggling in their relationships.
I have both a personal and professional interest in the adult children of narcissistic mothers. By training, I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist and have seen the incredible damage a narcissistic mother can do to her children. Survivors of narcissistic abuse, and yes it is “abuse”, often at their core believe that the abuse was deserved due to some defect in them.
Not only does a narcissistic mother neglect to nurture her child as a healthy mother would, but sadly her abuse turns you against yourself — often without you even realizing it initially.
To recover from narcissistic abuse, you need to be aware of what has happened to you, what is happening to you, and what is likely to happen to you as a result of having a narcissistic mother. I started this blog to assist you in your recovery journey.
This blog reaches adult children of narcissistic mothers (ACONs) in 150 countries around the world. Reading the stories of others helps you to realize you are not alone. Being able to share your story and have someone else hear and acknowledge it is also an important step in the process. Whether you share your story here, with someone you trust deeply or with a counseling professional of some type, keep in mind it’s an important step in the recovery process.
